year of years

year of years

2018, its here and we all knew it was coming but didn't think it would come so fast. I always like to sit and reflect on the past but most importantly look forward to the future. There's a million other people out there writing about this same topic but I decided to give it a whirl in hopes of a new perspective.

I decided instead of changing it up for the new year, that I would continue to build on the good of 2017. I made a list of all the things to let go of, and then an even longer list of what to hold on closer to. After looking at these lists, I came across my new favorite word (and possible theme) for going into the new year - SIMPLICITY. My most favorite moments of the past year weren't extravagant or worldy, but they were filled with laughter and pure joy. They involved friendships and growth and family. Over the next year I want to keep having these moments : late crafting nights with music and friends, long drives to a new place with my love, and play dates with my little nephew. I want to keep sitting at my desk looking at art supplies and deciding what to create, to continue texting my friends to "just say hi", I want to go to dinners with my cousins and hear all out her life, wear big tassel scarves, I want to dance all night at local concerts, I want to drive down the beach roads holding my loves hand, eat pizza as much as possible, to write in my journal every night, to keep stacks and stacks of new books to read, and drink all the matcha lattes.

This year I want to soak it all in, find all the inspiration, and do it in a simple and everyday way. To make graciousness a personality trait and to give love on a 24/7 basis, to always keep looking UP and know that it's about HIS pursuits and not my own.

keep drifting,

Dowling
